Two taxi drivers were shot and wounded on Thursday when an argument broke out after a taxi meeting in Katlehong on the East Rand, Gauteng police said.
Taxi owners and drivers met to discuss their operations in Katlehong and the route to Germiston, but a quarrel broke out, Lt-Col Lungelo Dlamini said in a statement.
A police officer heard shots, rushed to the scene and found four men driving away in a silver Mitsubishi Pajero. The car was stopped and searched. A licensed firearm, suspected to be the one used in the shooting was found inside.
The four were arrested and would appear in the Germiston Magistrate's Court soon. The wounded men were taken to hospital. One was shot in the leg, the other in the back. - Sapa
