Durban - A man and a woman appeared in the Verulam Magistrate's Court on Friday over 0.94kg of cocaine found at the King Shaka International Airport in Durban, the NPA said.

They remained in police custody, National Prosecuting Authority spokeswoman Natasha Ramkisson said.

The 28-year-old woman was allegedly caught with the cocaine, worth an estimated R282 000 on the street, hidden in the inner sole of her shoes on Thursday, Captain Thulani Zwane said.

Police and airport customs officials arrested her after she arrived in the country from Dubai. She was allegedly supposed to hand the cocaine to a 41-year-old man at a hotel in Durban. The man was also arrested on Thursday.
