Two in court for corruption

Two women allegedly linked to corrupt activities involving the Vhembe District Municipality have appeared in Thohoyandou Magistrate's Court, the Hawks said on Saturday.

The municipality's revenue manager Patricia Sigida and the director of RM Thabiso Trading Maggie Manyama appeared in court on Friday, Captain Paul Ramaloko said.

“It is alleged that Ms Manyama awarded Ms Sigida R40 000 in kickbacks after her company, RM Thabiso Trading, was awarded a delivery tender in 2008...”

At the time Sigida was managing the municipality's supply chain and was secretary of the tender evaluation committee.

The women were granted bail of R5,000 each. Their case was transferred to Sibasa Regional Court and was postponed to February 8. - Sapa
