Dobsonville - Two men accused of beating a Soweto teenager to death appeared in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Monday.

The matter was postponed to January 21 for further investigations, Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said.

Zolani Mhlauli, 38, and Vukile Nsina, 30, are facing assault and murder charges. They would remain in police custody.

Makhosini Kasi, 15, was killed in Dobsonville Extension Three on Saturday.

Another youth, who was with Kasi at the time, was discharged from hospital. He was admitted there on Saturday in a critical condition after he was severely assaulted, allegedly by the two men.

Makhubela said the two were carrying electrical appliances when their attackers accosted them. The men apparently tried to apprehend the teenagers because they believed the appliances were stolen.

“It is not yet confirmed whether the goods were stolen,” Makhubela said at the time.
