Two people were injured when suspected robbers petrol bombed a spaza shop in Tokoza, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.

Both survivors were taken to hospital, said Captain Godfrey Maditsi.

On Tuesday night, a group of men went to the shop and demanded that those inside open the door.

“When they refused, the robbers threw something in there and then there was a bang and the container was in flames,” said Maditsi.

“We suspect it was a petrol bomb.”

It was unclear how many robbers were there. They fled the scene soon after.

No arrests were made, and two cases of attempted murder and arson were opened. - Sapa
