Pretoria - Two police officers were shot, one of them in the head, in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, paramedics said.
"A police officer was transported to hospital in a critical condition, he has a gunshot wound to his head," ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak said.
"The other officer is in a stable condition. He has a graze wound to the back."
Beeld.com earlier reported that an accused in a robbery case apparently shot a court orderly in his side when he went down to the cells to take him up to the court room.
Another court orderly ran downstairs to see what was happening. A second accused grabbed him by the neck and he was shot in the head.
Both men escaped, reported a Beeld journalist. - Sapa
