Johannesburg - A woman was allegedly raped by a traditional doctor in Rustenburg, North West police said on Sunday.

The 33-year-old was raped on Saturday afternoon, allegedly by the traditional doctor who operates in the Rustenburg CBD, said Captain Pelonomi Makau.

“It is alleged that the victim went to the suspect's surgery and on arrival at the surgery, the doctor allegedly undressed and raped her,” said Makau.

The doctor then allegedly gave the woman some liquid to use and sent her home.

“The victim reported the matter to the police who went to the surgery and could not locate him,” said Makau.

In a separate incident, a man is due to appear in the Rustenburg Magistrate's court on Monday for allegedly raping a woman.

The 26-year-old man allegedly raped the 41-year-old woman on Saturday morning at the Bochfontein farm near Rustenburg.

“It is alleged that the victim was asleep at her place when realised that the suspect was inside her blankets and raped her,” said Makau.

The man allegedly forced the door open and gained entrance into the woman's house.

“The victim alleged that she thought it was her boyfriend and later realised that it was the suspect,” said Makau.

The man fled the scene when he realised that the woman noticed him.

He was arrested on Saturday afternoon, said Makau. - Sapa
