Cape Town - Two UCT students were robbed of cash by armed men on Friday on the campus.

The students were given counselling by UCT’s Student Wellness Service after their laptops and books were also stolen, said Kylie Hatton, acting executive director for communication and marketing.

The robbery took place in Rugby Road on the university’s upper campus.

The large amount of money had been earmarked for a student-run non-profit organisation.

“UCT condemns this incident in the strongest terms. Campus Protection Service is working together with the South African Police Service on an investigation into the robbery,” she said.
