Nicolette Lotter, who was convicted of taking part in her parents' murder, was still preoccupied with witchcraft, the Durban High Court heard on Monday.
This was the testimony of her uncle Willem Lotter, a pastor and the brother of Johannes Petrus “Johnny” Lotter, 53.
Without serious psychological and “pastoral” intervention, there would be no chance of rehabilitation, he told Judge Shyan Gyanda.
He described Lotter as an introvert who had been preoccupied with the supernatural and had become concerned with witchcraft as she grew older. He told the court his family had started to forgive Nicolette and her brother Hardus Lotter.
The siblings were convicted last week of murdering their father and their mother Maria Magdalena “Riekie” Lotter in their Durban home on July 19, 2008.
Willem Lotter said his brother's family had not been “close knit”.
Gyanda was due to sentence Nicolette, her ex-boyfried Mathew Naidoo, and Hardus later on Monday. - Sapa
