Durban - The case against three employees of a Phoenix vehicle-testing station accused of fraud was struck off the court roll because of poor investigations.

The three appeared in the Phoenix Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday to face charges of fraud and corruption for allegedly passing unroadworthy vehicles.

However, prosecutor Tholakele Khuzwayo said she had declined to prosecute.

“The investigating officer was asked to provide us with the information we needed. Some of the statements taken were also not commissioned. The charges could be brought up at a later stage,” Khuzwayo said.

She said diary entries had been made in the case docket and it had been sent back to the Phoenix police station.
