Johannesburg - A street vendor accused of killing a metro policeman appeared in the Benoni Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, Ekurhuleni metro police said.
“The man was remanded in custody. The matter was postponed to March 22 (Friday),” said Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago.
A 48-year-old metro policeman was killed in Daveyton on Sunday.
At the time, Kgasago said the officer had been enforcing by-laws when he was punched.
A businessman had allegedly been operating a food stall in an unauthorised area.
Officers were towing his caravan away when the officer was hit. He fell and hit his head, and died on the scene. - Sapa
