The case against three men and a woman accused of murdering a Walkerville family was postponed for further investigation until February 10 by the Vereeniging Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

The four face charges of murder, rape and robbery, a court official said.

The Viana family was shot dead in their house in Walkerville, south of Joburg, on October 1 last year.

“The young lady was arrested with her boyfriend last year but was only charged after investigations,” police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said.

The body of Geraldine Viana, 46, was found in the main bedroom. She had been raped before being shot dead.

Her husband Tony, 50, was found shot dead in the lounge, lying on his stomach with his hands tied behind his back.

The body of their 13-year-old son Amaro was found in the bath with his hands tied behind his back. He was a Grade Seven pupil at Linmeyer Primary School. – Sapa
