Cape Town - Thirty people were displaced when their homes burnt down following a petrol bomb attack in Bonteheuwel on Saturday, the Cape Town disaster management services centre said.

“At approximately 09.45 on Saturday, a petrol bomb was thrown at a house. The blaze spread to other three council dwellings resulting in severe damages, “ said disaster management spokesman Wilfred Solomons-Johannes.

The disaster management teams provided clothing, food parcels and blankets to the residents.

“The city has called on the police to open a case of malicious damage to these properties,” said Solomons-Johannes.

He said although the perpetrators had not been identified, they suspected the attack was a “turf war over drugs”. - Sapa
