Port Elizabeth - A total of 500 weapons have been confiscated from young people in villages around Centane, Eastern Cape police said on Wednesday.

These included battle axes, bush knives, sticks, pangas and other sharp objects, Captain Jackson Manatha said.

The weapons, used in fights among boys from various villages, were seized in December.

“The fights result in many unnecessary murders, attempted murders and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.”
