Cape Town - The Mthatha High Court on Thursday reportedly dismissed an application by Winnie Madikizela-Mandela to overturn a decision that she no longer has ownership of the Mandela property at Qunu in the Eastern Cape.

The applicant was ordered to pay the costs with the judge taking 30 seconds to read out the judgment, according to an eNCA report.

In his last will and testament, former president Nelson Mandela left the Qunu property to all members of the Mandela family as a place to unify them.

Madikizela-Mandela was left out of his will, released in February 2014, after his death on December 5, 2013.

Her lawyers filed papers during 2014 claiming that the property had been obtained while she was married to Mandela and belonged to her in terms of abaThembu custom.

Madikizela-Mandela had argued that, despite civil divorce, she remained married to Nelson Mandela under customary law.
