Johannesburg - A woman was arrested early Monday evening in Roodepoort for allegedly making fake Johannesburg metro police (JMPD) appointment cards and fake licensing officer cashier appointment cards, metro police said.

Following a tip-off, police arrested the woman, who ran a number plate and sign company in the area, around 6.30pm, said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.

The woman, in her 40s, agreed to make two fake appointment cards at a cost of R30 each for officers, who were dressed in plain clothes.

“It has also been established that the suspect has been making fake metro police cards since 2010 and would make cards for anybody on request,” said Minnaar.

The woman would be charged at the Roodepoort police station for fraud and for falsifying police documentation.

Metro police appointment cards indicated that the person holding them was a member of the Johannesburg metro police department.
