Cape Town - Two women have been arrested in Cape Town after allegedly raping another woman with a teaspoon.

The suspects appeared before the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on a charge of rape.

The alleged incident happened in L section in Lusaka informal settlement in Nyanga on Tuesday.

It is believed that the suspects, aged 35 and 34, accused their alleged victim of cheating with one of their husbands.

Police said that the victim, 34, was beaten up before being dragged into a house, where the attackers forced her to lie down before pushing the teaspoon into her vagina.

Neighbour Nomzi Ngobe, 66, said she was shocked by the attack: “I am an adult, and I have never seen this in all my life. It’s sad that women treat each other like this.

“These evil people must learn to use police and courts to deal with complaints, not take the law into their own hands.

“They are also women, they should know better.

“It is disgusting for us women,” said Ngobe.

Police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk confirmed the incident.

The two accused will remain behind bars until their next court appearance on January 29, when they are expected to apply for bail.
