Johannesburg - A Soweto woman is behind bars after she allegedly tried to force a 13-year-old girl to have sexual intercourse with her boyfriend.
The incident happened in Zola on Sunday afternoon while the teen’s mother had taken one of her other children to a hospital. The teen was with her younger sister.
The girl had been sitting outside her family’s backyard room when her mother’s landlady accused her of seducing her partner. At the time, the teenager was wearing her nightdress.
The woman allegedly beat the girl with a broomstick and shoes.
She then grabbed her and removed her underwear. The woman is alleged to have then grabbed her boyfriend, unbuttoned his trousers before trying to force the two to have sex. But the girl escaped and quickly called her mother.
“What kind of woman does that to someone else’s child? What she did was scary,” said Thobeka Mabhunda, the suspect’s tenant.
The woman allegedly beat up her partner after the incident.
“The woman did not dispute anything when the girl related the story to me in her presence,” said Mabhunda.
Police spokesman Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said cases of sexual assault and assault were being opened.
The woman was expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate’s Court soon.
Makhubela said police were searching for the boyfriend for questioning.
