Johannesburg – A woman, believed to be in her 40s, was found lying dead in the fast lane along the M1 highway in the early hours of Wednesday, ER24 paramedics said.
"Shortly after 2am this morning, paramedics from ER24 were called to the scene on the M1 highway before Riviera road, where they found the woman lying in the fast lane of the highway," said ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak.
Apparently, the woman had been knocked down by a car.
"Upon assessment, they found that she sustained fatal injuries when she was knocked over by a vehicle," said Vermaak, adding that paramedics declared her dead on the scene.
"The driver of the vehicle that collided with the woman was assessed on scene, but found with no injuries."
Police are looking into the matter.
