A 43-year-old woman has been arrested for defeating the ends of justice in East London, Eastern Cape police said on Tuesday.
Captain Mluleki Mbi said the woman was arrested on Monday for opening a false domestic violence case against her boyfriend in December.
“The woman came crying to the police station claiming her boyfriend threatened to shoot her. Police then intervened and took the firearm away from the boyfriend.”
The next day, the woman made a different statement to the police, said Mbi.
She said she had not been threatened with a firearm and that it should be given back to her boyfriend, because he needed it for his work.
Mbi warned people who made false statements that cases would be opened against them and they would be prosecuted. - Sapa
