Durban - A woman was severely injured after being set alight in Kloof, near Durban, in KwaZulu-Natal, paramedics said on Monday.

ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said the woman was found at the weekend.

“Paramedics immediately began their assessment and treatment of the woman, finding that she had sustained severe burns over 90 percent of her body.”

The woman was then taken to a nearby hospital.

Police spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane confirmed the incident.

“A 32-year-old woman was allegedly set alight and locked inside the house on the Old Main Road in Kloof,” he said.

“The motive of the incident is unknown at this stage. Pinetown police are investigating a case of attempted murder and no arrest has been made at this stage.”
