Kwanobuhle, Eastern Cape -
A 49-year-old Eastern Cape woman was shot and wounded on Wednesday morning in Kwanobuhle near Uitenhage, police said.
She was walking on Huna Street on her way to work when a man attacked her. The man, wearing a balaclava, pointed a firearm at her at close range, Lt-Col Priscilla Naidu said.
“The woman attempted to fight off the man and when she fell to the ground. A shot was fired, hitting her in her left hand.”
Naidu said the man fled without taking anything from the woman. She was taken to Cuyler Hospital for treatment.
The motive for the shooting was unknown, but police were investigating a case of attempted murder. - Sapa
