Johannesburg - Two women have been arrested for allegedly possessing drugs in Meyerton, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.

The women, aged 38 and 41, were taken into custody on Tuesday after police found a drug factory in a house in the area, said Captain Augustinah Selepe.

They found large quantities of chemicals, buckets and flasks used to produce crystal meth.

“It is alleged that the house belongs to an elderly couple who are on holiday in the Cape.”

A room in the house was being used to store drugs.

The drugs and equipment had an estimated street value of over R1 million, said Selepe.

More arrests were expected.

The women would appear in court soon. - Sapa
