Welkom - A youth accused of killing a school pupil appeared in the Welkom Magistrate's Court on Monday, Free State police said.

Tumi Alfred Ralitsoele, 19, would be back in court on March 27 when he was expected to bring a bail application, said Captain Stephen Thakeng.

He was arrested in Welkom last week for allegedly killing Samora Kopiso, 17.

Police said Kopiso left school on Wednesday afternoon and came across Ralitsoele and his group of friends.

An argument ensued between Ralitsoele and Kopiso, in which Kopiso was fatally stabbed in the left side of the chest.

He ran towards his school, but collapsed and later died in an ambulance on the way to hospital. - Sapa
