Ngcwanguba, Eastern Cape -

Two youths aged 18 and 19 have been arrested for stabbing a shepherd to death at Kwaaiman, in Ngcwanguba, Eastern Cape police said on Wednesday.

The shepherd herded his employer's cattle into their kraal and was on his way home on Tuesday night when three youths stabbed him twice and fled. He died at the scene, said Major Zamukulungisa Jozana.

Police were alerted by witnesses. Two of the youths were arrested at their homes in Ngcwanguba later on Tuesday. The other one remained on the run, he said.

The two arrested had bloodstained clothes. “We also recovered two knifes in their possession,” said Jozana.

The motive for the attack was not known. The two were expected to appear in the Kwaaiman Periodical Court on Thursday on a charge of murder. - Sapa
