Johannesburg – A Zimbabwean man was in police custody on Friday after he was arrested at the Kopfontein border post near Zeerust in the North West province driving a stolen vehicle, police said.

Police spokesman Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said it was the second time in less than a month that the man was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle at the same border post between South Africa and Botswana.

Mokgwabone said the man, 29, was arrested on Thursday after police started moving around the vehicle at the border post.

“It came out that it was reported stolen at Johannesburg Central Police Station on Wednesday 30 March 2016,” he said

Mokgwabone further investigations revealed the man was out on R2,000 bail and was due to appear at the Zeerust Magistrates Court on May 5 after he was arrested at Kopfontein on 18 March, allegedly driving another stolen vehicle.

He will be appearing at the Zeerust Magistrates Court on Monday April 4 on the latest charge.
