Johannesburg - A thief! That's what President Jacob Zuma is, according to the Democratic Alliance (DA), who called on the president and "his Guptas" to get out of the country.

DA national spokeswoman Refiloe Nt'sheke said when the Nkandla scandal broke about four years ago "we called Zuma a thief and he took us to court. We won in court, so Zuma is a thief! He is robbing South Africans of opportunities."

She was addressing DA supporters outside the Constitutional Court in Braamfontein, where the Nkandla issue is being heard.

Nt'sheke lashed out at Police Minister Nathi Nhleko for absolving Zuma of any wrongdoing in his parallel report into the millions of rand of taxpayers money spent on Nkandla.

DA supporters branded Zuma a "double-head" who disrespected recommendations of a Chapter 9 institution.

DA mayoral candidate for Tshwane, Solly Msimanga, said: "Today we want to send a clear message - that there is no United Kingdom of Nkandla. This is a democratic republic of South Africa. You can't have people being treated like subjects."

He said R700 billion meant for service delivery had been misappropriated since the dawn of democracy in 1994.

"The ANC is not taking seriously the project of taking people out of poverty. I don't want a free RIP house, I want a job so that I could be able to buy myself a house I like. That's true freedom," said Msimanga.
