London - An American man has launched a legal bid to marry his laptop computer.

Chris Sevier claims to be in love with his Apple MacBook, which he refers to as his “machine spouse”.

The former lawyer brought his case in the state of Utah which outlaws same-sex marriages, and adopted the arguments of a current court action against the ban on gay unions.

He said he had every right to marry his laptop because if gay people “have the right to marry their object of sexual desire, even if they lack corresponding sexual parts, I should have the right to marry my preferred sexual object”.

Sevier, from Florida, has previously filed a lawsuit against Apple for causing his porn addiction.

His latest papers said: “I approached the Utah clerk to have a marriage licence issued for me and my machine-spouse. They discriminated against me when they rejected my request.”
