Brits – Five people were arrested for attempted murder and attempted house robbery at a farm near Brits, North West police said on Tuesday.

Colonel Emelda Setlhako said the men, age 24 to 38, were arrested on Friday, after they attempted to gain entrance into a farm house in Rooikoppies near Brits.

"The suspects allegedly shot the farm owner who was outside the house in the leg and ran away. One of them was found dead with a bullet wound outside the yard.

Investigations into the matter continue," she said. It was not clear who shot the intruder.

The five suspects were expected to appear in the Brits Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
