Johannesburg – Five people died on Tuesday when a minibus taxi and a Toyota sedan collided head-on in Bethlehem, Free State.
Netcare 911 paramedics said the accident happened after 1am along James van Huyssteen Drive.
"Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the wreckage of both vehicles in the veld next to the roadway with some of the injured still trapped inside. After the occupants were freed, it was found that five from the Toyota had tragically died while two people from the taxi were in a serious condition".
The patients were stabilised and then transported to hospital
