Johannesburg – At least 17 people were injured on Tuesday after a taxi rolled multiple times and collided with a truck on the N1 north in Midrand, north of Johannesburg, EMER-G-MED said.

The accident took place after the Buccleuch Interchange in Midrand.

"It's believed that one of the taxi's back tyres burst and the driver lost control, causing the taxi to roll multiple times before a truck collided with it," said EMER-G-MED. Shortly before 1pm EMER-G-MED dispatched a response vehicle as well as multiple ambulances to the scene.

"On assessment paramedics found that the seventeen patients, including a one-month-old child, had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate and they were treated at the scene before being transported to various nearby hospitals for further care," said EMER-G-MED.

Johannesburg Metro Police Ddepartment were at the scene to investigate further.
