The affordable education loan option
The DA, through the attitude of some senior politicians, is culpable for last week’s chaos in Cape Town, says Graham Lashbrooke.
Cape Town - While I do not hold with the illegal and disgusting behaviour of those who trashed Cape Town, I do hold the DA, through the attitude of some senior politicians, culpable for this and a mounting list of debacles.
Let me name three culpable politicians who should know better: Robin Carlisle (breathtaking arrogance), Patricia de Lille (obdurate silence) and Helen Zille (absent leadership). These and others must shoulder a lot of the blame.
If DA politicians would listen to what the people of Cape Town are saying on a huge range of issues and then respond, they would probably be able to rescue the Western Cape from the hands of the ANC. However, if they persist with their chosen high-handed “we know best” attitude, they are heading for a loss at the polls greater than they could ever imagine.
Wake up, DA, before it is too late. Try to remember that you were elected democratically and you could be hounded out equally democratically by the same people who voted you in and who you are now choosing to ignore.
