Cape Town - Brand South Africa on Thursday congratulated the Class of 2016, saying improvements in the national senior certificate examinations resonated with South Africa’s improved performance in the 2016 World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Index pillar of education and health. 

BrandSA chief executive Dr Kingsley Makhubela commended teachers, learners and families on the improved performance. 

“You collectively attest to the South African spirit of resilience and the results which can be achieved when we work together,” Makhubela said.

“These results resonate with South Africa’s improved performance in the 2016 World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Index pillar of education and health. South Africa improved its performance for the third consecutive year.” 

Adding that a country’s global competitiveness was determined in large part by its level of education, Makhubela said: “We are pleased that South Africa’s education system is enabling a steady reversal of historical trends. This bodes well for the sustainable progress of our nation brand’s competitiveness.” 

He wished the Class of 2016 well and called on them to play their part in building South Africa’s global competitiveness.
