Police would continue to monitor ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema's hometown of Seshego on Saturday following clashes between his supporters and opponents, Limpopo police said.

“Everything is quiet this morning (Saturday) but we will continue to monitor the situation until we are satisfied that nothing else will happen,” Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said.

Clashes between the two groups erupted after news of Malema's expulsion from the African National Congress was confirmed on Wednesday evening.

Several shots were fired outside Malema's house in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Mulaudzi said no arrests had been made.

Malema was found guilty of sowing divisions in the ANC and of bringing the organisation into disrepute. - Sapa
