Cape Town - The ANC in the Western Cape has launched a Mxit application to engage with the province’s youth ahead of next year’s elections.

Speaking at the launch on Tuesday, ANC provincial chairman Marius Fransman said: “We live in a society where, to reach the youth, social media platforms are most effective.”

The myancwc application went live on the Mxit platform on Saturday.

“Within hours, we had about 800 people asking questions about the app,” said Mxit spokeswoman Sarah Rice.

Rice said there were a million Mxit users in the Western Cape, the majority aged between 18 and 24.
