Johannesburg - The ANC congress in the OR Tambo region has started without any incidents, the party said on Saturday.
“We have started, all issues have been resolved... branches have been verified we are satisfied,” said provincial spokesman Mlibo Qoboshiane.
He said the political report had been tabled and the provincial chairman Phumulo Masualle was expected to deliver a keynote address.
Nomination for the regional leaders was expected to start later on Saturday.
The OR Tambo was the biggest region of the ANC in the Eastern Cape.
The region was marred with factionalism and parallel structures in branches resulting in the numerous postponements of the conference.
