Johannesburg - The ANC is not using government money for its conference in Mangaung, secretary-general Gwede Mantashe said on Friday.
“The ANC conference is not funded by the government at all. At all,” he said at a The New Age business briefing broadcast by SABC2.
The party had raised its own funds through events like gala dinners and would “look at the overdraft” afterwards.
The African National Congress holds its 53rd national conference at the University of the Free State, in Bloemfontein, from Sunday to Friday.
It will host around 4 500 direct representatives, a massive support team, and local and international guests and media.
“We battle. It is heavy,” said Mantashe. - Sapa
