Johannesburg - The ANC in Gauteng will vote on Thursday on the final list of members nominated for national and provincial parliaments.
“The branch general meetings to elect candidates to national and provincial parliament were conducted with a high level of discipline and maturity in all branches,” spokesman Dumisa Ntuli said in a statement on Wednesday.
“There were few objections, which were dealt with amicably by the appeals committee.”
A special meeting to receive the list of candidates to sit in Parliament and the provincial legislature next year was held on Friday.
He said President Jacob Zuma had been “overwhelmingly” nominated by African National Congress branches in the province.
According to a report on Friday, provincial leaders had allegedly instructed branches not to nominate Zuma.
Ntuli denied this at the time.
On Wednesday he said it was concerning that some newspapers were using “faceless people to write negative, fallacious and distorted articles” about the ANC in Gauteng.
