Cape Town - Another poster poking fun at the DA, with a spoof of its anti e-tolls billboard has surfaced on the internet and is circulating on social media.
This is a third in the elections war between the DA and the ANC. It started when the DA admitted it had commissioned a controversial billboard that read “E-tolls Proudly brought to you by the ANC”. A viral campaign which pointed to the ANC’s alleged failures was launched under the Twitter hashtag #ProudlyBroughtByANC, including an image in which President Jacob Zuma is called a gangster.
Two weeks ago a post on Twitter worded “Open Toilets proudly brought to you by DA” was a reaction to the DA’s e-tolls billboards in Gauteng.
The latest image which was mainly circulated on Facebook features a billboard with the wording “Chapman’s Peak Toll (and luxury office) Proudly brought to you by the DA”. The billboard has been placed at the bottom of Chapman’s Peak Drive in Hout Bay.
In the same image there are road signs “confused” and “baffled”, also photoshopped into the picture.
The ANC has not taken responsibility and it is unclear who created the image.
ANC provincial secretary Songezo Mjongile said he had only heard about the billboard from the Cape Times on Sunday. He laughed but would not comment.
