Cape Town – Former Energy Minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson has resigned as a member of parliament, Parliament confirmed on Thursday.

According to @ParliamentofRSA, Joemat-Pettersson's resignation is effective from March 31.

Joemat-Petterson was replaced by Mmamoloko Kubayi in Zuma's midnight cabinet reshuffle last week.

Earlier on Thursday the ANC confirmed the resignation of former deputy finance minister Mcebisi Jonas as a MP.

Jonas' resignation, also effective March 31, follows that of axed transport minister Dipuo Peters on Wednesday.

Peters cited ill-health as a reason for stepping down. Joe Maswanganyi, a former member of Parliament’s portfolio committee on transport, replaced Peters.
