Heritage sites are still relevant as custodians of the country's history and play a vital role in national building, Constitutional Hill CEO Patel Thring said on Wednesday.
The national heritage site won the 'Preferred Heritage Destination' award at the National Heritage Council Awards on Friday, Thring said in a statement.
The awards, which were in their second year, recognised efforts to protect, promote and preserve heritage sites, a task Constitution Hill diligently continued to do with limited resources, he said.
“The site has over the last year become vibrant, and is witnessing an increase in activity through increased tours and events.”
Thring described the recognition as humbling.
“To be nominated for this award signifies achievement in the efforts of staff and all involved to make this heritage site a true shining gem that it is.”
