Cope in Limpopo has expelled some of its top provincial and regional heads, the party said on Friday.

Cope provincial spokesman Thejeng Motlatjo said in a statement that the branch expelled four members because of ill-discipline and for bringing the party into disrepute.

Solomon Mokhatshoa, who was the acting provincial chairman for the party as well as an MPL, was one of those axed.

Deputy chairman and MPL Mabule Philip Motubatse, provincial secretary Mary Maphanga and Stella Dinyake, the regional secretary of the Capricorn region, have also been fired.

It is alleged the group was given a chance to appeal their expulsions but chose not do so.

“They have been stumbling blocks for the growth and progress of the organisation in parliament and government in many ways,” said Motlatjo.

“We wish all of them good luck in their political life and hope that they find a political home to represent (the) many South Africans who still believe in their abilities.” – Sapa
