Cosatu sent its condolences to Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi and his family on Wednesday, following the death of his daughter in a car accident.

“We send our best wishes to comrades Sesi (Nxesi) and Thulas... and all their family as they struggle to come to terms with the loss,” Cosatu national spokesman Patrick Craven said in a statement.

Lona Nxesi, 17, died on Monday while on her way home from boarding school in Mangaung.

The Young Communist League of SA also sent its condolences to Nxesi.

Spokesman Mangaliso Khonza said Lona would have “contributed to the growth of the revolutionary movement and the transformation of our nation had death not robbed us”.

“We wish that the entire family may find acceptance and peace as they navigate their way ahead without the beautiful star they lost,” Khonza said in a statement. – Sapa
