Cosatu to decide on deputyComment on this story
Johannesburg - The Congress of SA Trade Unions (Cosatu) will discuss the future of second deputy president Zingiswa Losi, spokesman Patrick Craven said on Wednesday.
He said Cosatu received a report from Losi that she has changed jobs and resigned from Ford SA, where she was a National Union of Metalworkers (Numsa) shop steward.
“The NOBs [national office bearers] can confirm that this is true. They are discussing the matter and will give a full report to the next central executive committee.”
Numsa president Andrew Chirwa said Losi resigned a week ago at Ford in Port Elizabeth.
“She is no longer a worker and a member of the union. She was elected into Cosatu because she was from an affiliated union.”
In September, Numsa suspended her in her capacity as a full-time shop steward stating that her suspension was an internal and organisational matter.
Cosatu and Numsa have been at loggerheads over the suspension of Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi.
He was placed on special leave after he admitted to having an affair with a junior employee.
