Could EFF/DA coalition be possible in Tshwane?

Tshwane - EFF president Julius Malema and DA Tshwane mayoral candidate have interesting and possible compatible views on coalitions in metropolitan municipalities.

Malema said that the EFF would consider a coalition with the DA in metropolitan municipalities and would work with anyone except the ANC so long as the relationship produced tangible results and was reviewed every year.

“We will not make our people suffer because of some alliance that is not working.”

Malema's reasoning for not entering into a coalition with the ANC was that “as the ruling party, if the ANC received less than 50% the vote then it is a vote of no confidence.

When asked about a possible coalition with the EFF in Tshwane, Solly Msimanga - the DA's mayoral candidate for Tshwane - said “I am still in the 90th minute and that is what I am working on” but that if it means that the DA has to compromise on its value composition or create a bloated cabinet then he is not interested.

Hopefully any coalitions that come out of the municipal elections are successful in delivering services to their municipalities.
