Johannesburg - The ANC’s Siyanqoba rally, also happening on Sunday, is razzmatazz, the music industry’s head honchos and hottest acts, and massive everything – tens of thousands of people.

But the DA sure knew how to throw down a chilled Sunday vibe as they wound down the heat – but just a notch and not for long – after their super-slick show at the Coca Cola Dome on Saturday.

They brought out hip niche folk-singer, Bongeziwe Mabandla and their own superstars – Mmusi Maimane, the party’s Gauteng premier candidate, parliamentary leader Lindiwe Mazibuko and party youth leader Mbali Ntuli.

Rising act to keep a beady eye on, Makashule Gana, completed the dream-team, as the party’s black youth took centre stage on the historic Kliptown’s Freedom Square where years ago the Freedom Charter was written.

Other musical acts included hip hop act Kwesta, and as well as Mbaqanga.

“Phansi, Premier Nomvula Mokonyane, phansi,” Maimane and the crowd chanted.

He said the DA government in Gauteng, if elected, would bring change and work.

“The future of Gauteng will be decided on the 7th of May. (If you vote ANC) it’s more of the same. It’s more of corruption,” he said.

“But change must come to Gauteng. Let me say one last thing. All of us on 7 of May will be out there to ensure change comes to Gauteng.”

And with that, the concert was over, while the celebrations rage on a few kilometres away at the FNB stadium.
