Johannesburg - The SABC's exiting acting COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng thanked the broadcaster for letting him hold the fort, the public broadcaster said on Wednesday.

He thanked the SABC board for recognising his strengths and giving him the opportunity to act as its chief operations officer from November 18, 2011, The SABC said in a statement.

“The most appreciation is to the group executive committee and the SABC staff at large, for supporting his vision and commitment to the business of the public broadcaster.”

The SABC announced on Wednesday that it was releasing Motsoeneng from his duties.

It appointed Mike Siluma, a veteran journalist and head of radio news and current affairs, to the position.

Motsoeneng called on the staff and stakeholders of the broadcaster to support Siluma.

Motsoeneng would revert back to his position as group executive of stakeholder relations and provinces with immediate effect. - Sapa
