Port Elizabeth - Eastern Cape local government MEC Mlibo Qoboshiyane has called for a meeting with all the municipalities which received poor audits from the Auditor General.

“Qoboshiyane has instructed the department’s superintendent general, Stanley Khanyile, to convene a meeting with mayors, municipal managers, chief financial officers and supply chain managers of municipalities who got poor audit outcomes from the Auditor General,” department spokesman Mvusiwekhaya Sicwetsha said.

The meeting would be held within 14 days. Qoboshiyane would then decide the type of intervention needed for each municipality. The meeting would also deal with the consequences of non-compliance, Sicwetsha said.
