Education authorities declined on Wednesday to comment on reports that Limpopo education MEC Dickson Masemola might be redeployed.

Minister Angie Motshekga and Masemola held a meeting in Limpopo on Tuesday amid the textbook scandal that has hit the province.

“It was a closed meeting, of information sharing between them,” said education spokeswoman Hope Mokgatlhe.

She said Motshekga would not speak about the meeting.

The department appointed former director general Mary Metcalfe to investigate textbook deliveries in the province.

President Jacob Zuma also set up a national task team to look into the saga.

Metcalfe estimated that at least 280 schools were still without the required textbooks.

On Tuesday, a school for the blind outside Polokwane was reported to have received conventional instead of Braille textbooks. – Sapa
