Bloemfontein - The Economic Freedom Fighters' National People’s Assembly nominated additional members to the party's command team on Monday.

The delegates, who had vacated the main hall at the University of the Free State campus in Bloemfontein in the morning and preferred to mingle outside, were back in numbers to nominate and elect an additional 35 members.

Spokesman Mbuyiseni Ndlozi and Leigh-Ann Mathys from Gauteng were hugely favoured by the delegates.

MP Khanyisile Litchfield-Tshabalala declined nomination.

“For the progress for me and the EFF it is my decision to decline nomination,” Litchfield-Tshabalala said to a loud round of applause.

Agitated delegates complained about others undermining the rules of the conference.

“I stand on a point of order and see people with a list of people's names written down... that is against the rules,” said one delegate.

Party leader Julius Malema stood up several times to maintain order.

“Please do not awake anarchists. This is nomination and we will continue in that order,” he said, to much dissatisfaction from Gauteng delegates.

The Gauteng delegates were agitated as their preferred candidate, Tebane Moteka, was declined due to not attaining the required threshold.

Earlier, the conference broke into commission and held closed sessions.
